Winemaker’s Notes
Explosive nose of vanilla crème brûlée and stovetop-reduced dark cherry, red currant, and blueberry compote. Very subtle hints of cocoa, anise, buttered toast, and kalamata olive. I’m absolutely enamored with the nose on this wine. On the palate, the cocoa becomes more pronounced and thicker with ripe but fresh fruit. The generous mid-palate is full and plush with soft, integrated tannins and a lovely lingering finish.

This is attractive, with black raspberries and blueberries on offer, as well as hints of lilacs, red spices and crushed stones. So fresh and pure character. Full-bodied, big, structured and tight with a fine-grained, chiseled tannin structure that needs some time to soften and integrate, with rich dark and blue fruit hidden underneath. Long and chewy finish. A blend of merlot and petit verdot. Drink from 2026.

The 2020 FIGGINS ‘Figlia’ Red Wine is a stunning blend of Petit Verdot and Merlot which was aged for 20 months in French oak (62% neutral) prior to bottling. Pencil lead and green herbs combine with blackberry compote and mocha tones on the nose. The palate is rich and volupuous with a silky texture and refined tannins. Very concentrated, with intense black and blue fruits, with herbal undertones, this is delicious and novel Bordeaux inspired wine to consume now and over the next fifteen years. Give this at least an hour in the decanter prior to enjoyment. Drink 2022-2038
